Pumkin went into the greengrocer's window in March. He has been turned to face the street ever since.There is a small sticker on his side. It says the last day of October. He reads it every morning.The other stock went in July. A crate of apples, a sack of onions, a bag of pears. He stayed.The shopkeeper moves him once a week so the light reaches him. She does not know he counts.
